There is a void behind the inner stem at the bow end of each hull. To make sure that water cannot gather in this void and to further strengthen the bow the space is filled with closed cell polyurethane foam. The void is deep and narrow so the easiest way to do this is using liquid expanding foam. The two part foam is simply mixed and poured into the void in batches where it expands filling the space.
